Fathers´ day and a piece of rope

Today was Father´s day and so my kids were excited waiting for dad to wake up. The presents were hidden at home since a week.

Then some secret words on doors: Don´t disturb, it says, written by my 6 year old daughter as best as she can.....

A bit rainy it was today and on Sundays there are only a few kids out to play. What can we do? We asked our grandpa to give us a piece of rope. It must guarantee for some ours of fun in the parc behind our house. Some ropejumping and....Jipieee! High we fly!

Old cup, new pincushion

Already a year ago, i saw these somewhere on the internet. I´d love to place the tutorial but hmmm... really don´t remember where i saw it. It kept coming up in my mind so when i bought this rose-cup and saucer at a local thriftstore last week, it was easy knowing what to do with it. Some fabric, some glue and some of my childrens´ beads.

Friday off

Today i took some time to do what i like. Hang around, small crafts and so: this morning i´ve been searching for suitable vintage pictures. I wanted also an old Fiat 500 but couldn´t find a nice picture and so that one is still on my list. In the meantime i´ve been working on an old Ferrari and found an old Vespa. Printout, iron on and here they are: a new shirt for my husband and another for my son:

I still have a fifties Opel on my laptop to iron on for fathers day or....

Then i went to the thriftstore where i NEVER leave with bare hands.
This is what i found:

An old Wedgwood Cup and Saucer

And two lamps with lampshades to be redone immediately

A walk with real men

I am always late blogging. My life goes faster than i blog which doesn´t mean i have a fast life: am just a slow blogger....
Like what happened last weeks when i didn´t write at all? Ofcourse i have been sewing for the market on 6th of June. Then i relax a bit while the nerve-aches due to a hernia still isn´t over, not even after the surgery:-P
But okay, i can move better than before and so i enjoy life with my family as much as i can. Like 2 weeks ago when we had a nice walk and picknick with my sister. We started our walk near a playground and so my son was boooored all the way: he had only that playground in his mind. Halfway we had a small picknick, a little chat and some exploring around. It is slow walking with kids and so at the end our real men were sleeping. When the going get´s tough, the tough get going.

Boooooring keys

My keys are boring and always get lost! I leave them at work, neighbours, friends, in my other bag, somewhere in the house, all places where they should not be at all.
In the eihgties i used to have one of those keygadgets that, when you clap your hands, your keyholder makes noise. Nowadays i don´t see them in shops anymore. Then i bought huge keyhangers so at least i could easily feel if my keys were in my bag or in my pocket but they got trapped too many times between doors, etc. and so also these are gone.
Last week i saw these happy mushroom keycaps in a store at Groningen and hmm..... why not?

P.S:Do they have such things to keep my cellphone warm? I lost it lately inside the freezer!

GIANT babushka

Yesterday i finally started with an idea, i had on my mind for several months: sewing a Giant Matryoshka. It can stand by itself so it is a nice decoration for childrens rooms or can be used as a pillow. What also is nice for children: use it as a bowling-pawn. A lot of joy guaranteed!
I love the final result. It is available already in my dutch shop www.pinka.nl

Mothers day

My mom really deserved a nice present for mothers day. The last year she helped me out more than a lot at home and with the kids while i was waiting to be operated. So i bought her nice flowers and had been sewing a garden-keeper to fancy up her living or ouside.

Working late for teachers-day

At my kids´ school the don´t celebrate every teachers birthday. Instead they party once a year calling it ´teachers-day´. All kids can come to school dressed up and bring a small homemade gift. And so yesterdayevening i had been cutting and glueing till late.I used once again Mariekes printables to glue on small wooden boxes. Inside some tiny cookies and a teabag. The original tag from the teabag i removed to glue on a babushka as tag.
My daughter was dressed up all in white and pink with wings on her back. The pattern of the wings is from a Tilda-book called Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle

Happy Birthday

Last weekend was my birthday. Although i decided to party it later on this year for several reasons i had been spoiled the same.
My friend from Arnhem bought me a huge bunch of pink tulips. Beautiful. My kids and husband gave me Greengate cups and a bracelet.

My dear friend and neighbour Herma was smart to buy me a second piece for my Greengatecollection: a greenspotted teacup and saucer. She also shares my Tilda-hobby and so i got these beautiful Tilda-pins and a Fq. of fabric. Thank you, Herma!

Then an unexpected box from my German friend. He was so kind to send me 2 craftbooks (am thrilled about these!) and the most tasty crackers ever made. They don´t sell them in Holland. Good for me, cause i would have been addicted and a dozen kilo´s heavier;-) Thank you for having listened to all my words the past year! The air between the packages probably were filled with love.

Late easter

I know, i know, easter is gone but i promised my kids (6 and 7 years old) to put their crafts on my blog so here they are. The eggs my kids decorated with tissues and a chicken my boy made out of a paper plate.
This is how you make the eggs:
Very easy to do.
You buy polyester eggs. Pick some colorfull paper tissue. Every tissue is made of 3 layers: use only the top layer which is the printed one.( I helped my kids with tearing off the toplayer).
Put glue on the egg. We used ModgePodge, a glue especially used for tissue-art. Then, using a sponge or the tip of a brush, gentily put on the tissue. For litle kids it is easier when the tissue is first teared into small pieces.

New bibs, new tags

These days i´ve been sewing new combinations of fabrics for my bibs. Then i thought of how to use Marieke´s printables and so the idea of making new tags came up in my mind. Here they are: new bibs, new tags.

Card-gift

All you have to do is send her a card you´ve received for birth or marriage and she cuts and pastes it into a cute shape. What do you think? An original idea for a birthgift, isn´t it?

You want something like this yourself? Have a look on Kaartenkanjers

She makes happy things to color up life. Print out her tags, sheets and paperpacks. They work great for scrapbooking, ATC, tags on gifts, for handmade marmalade, and lots more. Christels´ Brocante and Greengate

I LOVE Greengate. Every time i get in a store where they sell Greengate-products, I come home with.... nothing:-( It is because i love ALL of it and can't decide....
Today I made a decision. I bought new cups for coffee and tea at a beautiful webshop called Christels Brocante. I love the first look of the website> it is fresh and really makes me feel happy not even having made a click yet.

I HOU van Greengate.

Thank you Little-Z!!

I received a LOVELY package last week! My sister ordered it at Little Z already for my birthday even if it is only on the third of may. I really really love it. A DIY kit for carving rubberstamps!!I already made my PINKA stamps more than a year ago. Then made a bird, a bug, a princess and a tree and some leaves. I used to cut them out with a small scissor and a foamlayer. Not so difficult at all. On flickr i see all of them carving the stamps. I´d like to try that out cause for example cutting letters the way i do is really hard.

Then in the package was an EXTRA GIFT from Miss Little-Z herself ! with a birthdaytag for me. THANK YOU, LISETTE!! You´re soo kind:-)
A small strawberry stamp. Cute cute cute.:-)

I still have to recover from my hernia-operation but when feeling better, when i can drive again, i´ll go and buy some nice paper to make my own tags. Can´t wait.
In the meantime am breeding on what to carve out of the rubber. I have too many ideas and can´t make up my mind. It´ll probably will be a bird-silhouet.... and an ornament i already have in my mind.

Se couldn´t sleep the evening before her birthday and the very morning she woke up at 6.20. So exciting! Her sixth birthday! Here she goes with treats for her schoolmates.

Ze kon er niet van slapen de avond ervoor en die ochtend was ze om 6.20uur al op. Zo spannend! Haar 6e verjaardag. Daar gaat ze met traktaties voor de klasgenootjes.

Fast snails

It´s not that we plan to do so just that it results spontaniously that every sunday the kids and me are crafting. This time we did some papercraft and these fast snails. Fast in the meaning of fast-done.

We doen het niet met opzet. Het loopt gewoon zo dat we idere zondag aan het knutselen zijn. Dit keer vouwden we onze eigen schatten-museum van papier en deze snelle slakken. Snel in de zin van snel-gemaakt.

WANTED!

Ooooh, the sun is coming out this week and i just had been operated at this herniated disc, as told before, so i have to lay down several moments a day. Now i really want a sunbed outside. I had been looking on the web where to buy my soooooo wanted sunbed. Who can i send to do some shopping at Ikea? Let me think.....
